Taxpayers in Hurricane Devastated Areas May Be Entitled to Deadline Relief

With the declaration by FEMA that certain areas of Texas, Florida, the Gulf Coast, and Puerto Rico federal disaster areas, the IRS has stepped forward to provide deadline relief for tax filers, both business and individual. Be sure to check irs.gov for further information on what deadline relief is specific to you.

 

Qualified individual taxpayers who filed extensions to allow them to file 2016 taxes by October 16, 2017 may get a second automatic extension until January 18, 2018. And a variety of business tax form deadline have also been relaxed for those qualified. 

 

Payroll tax form filings and withholding have not been relaxed, so be sure to keep up with your employee filing responsibilities.
