N. Bethesda and Potomac on List of Best Cities for Staying Healthy

July 23, 2015

The recent May 2015 issue of the AARP Bulletin listed the best cities for staying healthy. Among the top ten small cities in the country, N. Bethesda (7th) and Potomac (6th) made a showing. Arlington  (VA) made the top ten of medium sized cities (1st). Neither Washington DC, Baltimore, or Richmond (VA) made the large city list.

According to the AARP, the evaluation criterion included those cities where residents engage in healthy lifestyle and where doctors and hospitals are plentiful. Among large cities, San Francisco (1st) benefited from a low obesity rate; Arlington benefitted from its wealth of exercise opportunities; and the top small city, Novato, CA (1st)

, benefitted from highly regarded care that residents receive in local hospitals.

The short article did not say how N. Bethesda and Potomac benefitted, but we would guess they share all three of the elements of healthy lifestyle by the cities that topped the three lists.
